Getting started
Signing in
Marshall accounts are issued by your administrator — there is no self-service sign-up. On the sign-in page, enter your details in the Email or username field: most accounts sign in with an email address, but plain usernames are equally valid, so type whichever you were given. Then enter your password and choose Sign in.
If your account has two-step verification enabled, you are next asked for the six-digit code from your authenticator app. A recovery code works in the same field if you no longer have the authenticator.
If you do not have an account, or cannot get in with the details you were given, contact your administrator — they create accounts, reset passwords, and manage two-step verification.
Never enter client information or confidential material on the sign-in page itself. Once you are signed in, matter documents and queries stay inside your firm's private workspace.
The workspace, in brief
After signing in you land in the workspace. The centre of the screen is the query box: type a research question or an instruction there and Marshall answers it, drawing on the documents and authorities you have put in front of it. Above the query box on a fresh conversation sits a strip of Starters — predetermined queries drafted in chambers style — alongside My library, which holds queries you have saved yourself and any your organisation has published.
Just above the query box runs a slim row reading Attach · Library · Documents · 1 request, followed by your remaining credits. That row is the attachments panel folded shut: open it to attach files for a single query, pick documents out of the Matter Library, and see exactly what will travel with your next request before you send it.
Work is organised into matters. Each matter keeps its own conversations, its own Matter Library of documents, and its own record of authorities, private to the people authorised on that matter. Open the matters list to switch between them or to create a new one; each matter page also holds the matter's details, parties, key dates, and hearing bundle builder.
Where to go next
- Asking research queries — starters, saved queries, and credits.
